Peradeniya National College of Education

Peradeniya National College of Education which aspires to become the Nation’s Centre for Excellence in English Education is the heir to one of the oldest teacher training traditions in Sri Lanka, as the successor to the English Specialist Teachers’ Training College which was established in 1961 at the site of the former Teachers’ Colony set up at Rose Hill Estate in Penideniya, Peradeniya by British missionaries. It is the 18th and the youngest of the National Colleges of Education in Sri Lanka and holds a unique position among them being the only in-service teacher training facility. Today, the College conducts a range of English language programmes including a two-year teacher training programme, a certificate course for educational administrators and an advanced course in language and pedagogy for senior English language teachers. The current participant population stands at 300. Currently medium of instructions are available in English, Sinhala and Tamil.

Welcome New Batch 2017-2019

P:eradeniya NCoE was Registraterd new batchon 5th of June 2018 .There were 220 teacher trainees of English, Sinhala and Tamil courses in this batch.

Model lessons -Block Teaching 1st spell

First Block Teaching spell of Teacher trainee's is planned to held  on 14th of May to 18th of May. They went to schools for collecting Units and Time Tables on 2nd May.They are preparing their block teaching under the Guidance of Lectures and  they could participated Model Teaching Lesson done by internship teacher trainees. They could get with having real classroom experience with support of school students at Peradenitya Junior secondary students.

And also Academic staff arrange the sessions of Block teaching preparations  as  lesson plan writing sessions & Micro teaching session for best Practices of teacher trainees.

Sinhala and Hindu New Year festival celebrated by PNCoE teacher trainees on 25th of April at college premises.  According to both  Sinhala and Tamil  new year customs , teacher trainees engaged  traditional games and  celebrated new year peacefully.The objectives of the event were to make us aware about traditional values of both Sinhala and hindu culture.



 The Inter-House Sport meet 2018 of PNCOE  was a grand event held on 5th April in the ground .It was presided by the college President Mrs. O.P.M.R. Mahabodhi, many and event added colour and glamour to the occasion.

Productivity National winners 2013/2014

The Productivity Awarding Ceremony for the National winners 2013/2014 was held at Sethsiripaya Auditorium in the presence of many distinguished guests  and the Minister of  Public Administration and Management, Mr. Ranjit Madduma Bandara in December 2015
